Voices of Experience
A Values Based Leadership Speaker Series
A collaboration by:
Index
Questions about leadership qualities, attributes, and deficits arise from every
corner of our personal and professional lives. There is certainly no time like the
present for us to be examining, exploring and seeking to embody the principles of
"values based leadership". As professionals, we are called upon to define and uphold
ethical business practices in an increasingly fluid business environment. We are all
well aware of the ethical and values oriented conflicts that have beset some of this
country's most successful businesses. Ours is a time of great challenge and great
opportunity, wherein we are being called upon to engage in collaboration and cooperation
in, what is often, a viciously competitive environment. In this increasingly complex
and diverse business climate, issues of ethical leadership are relevant to almost
all business audiences. We invite you to join us in several enlightening and exciting
presentations and discussions addressing the theory and practice of values-based
leadership and the role it plays and will continue to play at all levels of business
activity.
Voices of Experience is the first annual Speaker Series
hosted by the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver.
This series will feature eight exceptional speakers who are well-informed,
dynamic business leaders representing many diverse backgrounds from across
the country. Each of these distinguished speakers will discuss an aspect
of the practice of values-based leadership. The other participants in this
series will include an assemblage of local leaders in the business, legal,
financial and academic communities, and Daniels students and alumni.
Participants in this series will be provided a unique opportunity to learn
from each other while drawing knowledge from a variety of experienced
business professionals. Collectively, this dynamic combination of leaders
creates a forum that links the theory with the practice of values-based
leadership in ways that will be immediately transferable to our developing
careers today and in the future.
The series begins this October and continues through May of 2005. Each
talk will consist of a keynote speech, followed by time for Q&A, which
will then be followed by a time for continued dialogue and networking. The
speaking engagements will be held at the University of Denver, in addition
to several that will be held in Vail, Colorado and hosted by Vail Leadership
Institute. There is no charge for admission.
The Voices of Experience series is sponsored by the Daniels
Department of Business Ethics and Legal Studies (BELS), the Daniels chapter
of Net Impact, the Vail Leadership Institute, the law firm Berenbaum,
Weinshienk & Eason P.C., CoBank, and Richard & Pat Korpan, and the Business
Law Society at the DU College of Law. Daniels is proud to present this
program in its continuing pursuit of business ethics excellence as
demonstrated by its ranking as 5TH in the world for Ethical Standards by the
Wall Street Journal.
