agenda for the 2005 Changing the Game Forum.
In June 2003, the Center for Corporate Change hosted its first annual forum entitled “Changing the Game: Reforming American Business” at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Vail, Colorado. Looking to re-establish confidence in our economic system, re-confirm the responsibility of business to society, and develop remedies to the causes of misconduct, the Forum hosted participants from the fields of Business, Regulation, Academia, Media and others.
Through dialogues, presentations and moderated panel discussions, participants helped to expand the understanding of issues and create strategies to effect change. The Center now acts to disseminate information from the Forum, help guide further action and influence the continuing public debate. It will also implement ideas from the Forum to promote and recognize ethical and effective leadership, to engage other organizations as partners in the reform effort, and to direct funding for further empirical research.
ResearchThe research presented at the 2003 Forum was based on what the Center calls the "Seven Root Causes of Corporate Misconduct."

1. Corporate Valuation

2. Board Governance

3. Leadership & Corporate Culture

4. Compensation

5. Competitive Practices

6. Accountancy

7. Regulation
The research was performed by Dr. Bruce Hutton, John Holcomb and Kevin O'Brien of the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business. Their initial findings reveal statistics that are perhaps not too surprising in hindsight and trends that are a bit unsettling with foresight.
Research has been performed for the 2004 Forum as well. The University of Denver team will present further baseline research on the Seven Root Causes. In addition, representatives from PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mercer Delta and A.T. Kearney will present research on multiple stakeholder valuation, board governance & culture, and non-executive chair, respectively.
In addition to the Presenters noted in the brochure, the forum will also feature the following individuals:
