BUILDING YOUR FOUNDATION
A Heart for Teaching is a program designed specifically for teachers and administrators participating or investing in the Exploring Potential curriculum. The purpose is for participants to adopt a life-long attitude to leading their lives. Our hope is that by strengthening the foundation of educator’s lives, we can more effectively guide student’s development of valuable life skills.
A Heart for Teaching exposes teachers and administrators to an in-depth approach to our Exploring Potential methodology. The program is both a thought-provoking inquiry and an enjoyable set of experiences with colleagues. Educators will be exposed to the Institute’s “inside-first” framework by integrating both head and heart into participatory processes. This participatory process opens up new approaches in order to fully get the benefits of the entire experience.
The program is made up of a day and a half retreat and an ongoing communication network to follow. Throughout the ensuing year, teachers will be exposed to several thought-leaders, but more importantly, everyone will learn from each other. In addition, each participant will become members of the Institute’s Leaders Network, which entitles them to a variety of on-going leadership information and experiences. Beyond these more formal activities, each group of educators will be encouraged to meet regularly, for example, weekly or semi-monthly, over coffee or at a private home, to stay connected to the work and to each other.
This comprehensive program will include the following benefits:
- Membership in the Leaders Network – ongoing exposure of leadership information and experiences
- Introduction to key personal growth and character development principles and practices
- Weekly eMessages
- Monthly eNewsletters
- Monthly Insights conference calls
- Invitations to Defining Moments events
