What we can accomplish alone pales to what we might accomplish together as a community. To better guide its own evolution and make more meaningful contribution to society, the Vail Leadership Institute seeks to develop and nurture a unique and uncommon network dedicated to exploring and discovering human potential.
This Network Community comprises participants, newly introduced to leadership principles; members, sharing in the leadership journey; sponsors, providing critical resources; contributors, sustaining the Inside First vision; program facilitators, guiding our learning; and finally, our White River Council, Board of Trustees, and Board of Scholars, helping to shape our vision.
The Institute shares its ideas through courses, publications and products and facilitates involvement with dialogues, community events, and forums.
As ideas develop and the Inside First framework evolves, so will the community evolve and change to better serve its constituency and the greater global community.
Network Programs & Benefits
- Network Mixer – A quarterly gathering of thought leaders. The intent is to build bridges between you and other leaders who share an interest in advancing effective, ethical leadership in a physical setting. Traditional electronic communication is a fantastic method to keep our Network engaged. However, physical gatherings with social exchanges are the way to build community and grow perspectives.
- Defining Moments – Presentations from hidden treasures in our communities – people who are serving others. These leaders have had very interesting life experiences pointing to how they got where they are today. All of us have had defining moments that have shaped our lives. The Institute has found that when people share their stories, it is not only inspirational, but helps us get in touch with our own story. When we hear someone’s story, we begin to really know them. Stories build relationships.
- Insights Conference Calls – Interviews with authors, scholars, and successful leaders.
- Leaders Forums – A large group discussion session accompanied by a small group dialog highlighting Institute endorsed exemplars.
- Journal eMessages – An electronic message sent to the Leaders Network each week relating to the “key principle” of study for a particular month. The eMessages provoke journal responses to relevant questions intended to prompt whatever comes to mid. In addition, the responses related to action in whatever planning system you use.
- Monthly Inside First™ - eNewsletters – A monthly summary of Institute programs, Leading Perspectives™ reading summaries, upcoming events, and a check-in by the Institute’s President.
- Compendium of Readings
- Dialogue Guidebook – Created to help leaders grasp the value of the dialogue process and to learn how to put it to effective use.
- ViewPoints from the Inside First – A monograph to accompany recommended Institute reading.
- Leaders Compass Planner © - Created to facilitate reflection on your life thus far and to help you determine a direction for your next chapter. Much like a navigational compass, it can guide you through to a process to help you discover or affirm your core essence. It will urge you to establish goals and outline actions with a focus on your purpose and will enable you to define a more integrated life. The objective here draws upon Socrates who urged us to “know thyself”. Know your foundation. Know what you really stand for. What or who is at the center of your life?
